The Marathon Man – TLC Director David Caddick to run the 2013 Virgin London Marathon!
Posted on 11th February 2013
A New Year usually brings the promise of a healthy new lifestyle and the ritual purging of all of the excesses from the festive period. To some this may mean starting a diet or adopting a more positive outlook for the year ahead. To others it means starting a new exercise regime (that usually only lasts a few weeks!). it seems that’s not for our Director David Caddick though!
David has cranked up the effort levels on his New Year’s fitness quest by tackling one of the world’s most famous and gruelling marathons – The Virgin London Marathon www.virginlondonmarathon.com. Many weeks of intense fitness training have given him the inspiration to enter the marathon for one of the London’s oldest, established charities Coram (www.coram.org.uk).
Founded in 1739 by Captain Thomas Coram, a philanthropist who wanted to provide care for children left dying on London’s street’s, Coram is one of Great Britain’s first children’s charities. Their pioneering work attracted some historically significant patrons including the artist William Hogarth and composer George Frideric Handel.
Today, they continue to rely on the support of generous benefactors to ensure they can:
- Find loving, stable families for children in greatest need.
- Protect children and young people from being left to drift in the care system.
- Support isolated young people in taking charge of their lives.
- Educate children in making responsible choices in life.
- Their adoption service has one of the highest success rates in the country.
- 86% of young people are in education, employment or training six months after leaving
Coram’s Supported Housing programme
“And this is from me! I’m sure you like the sound of the Coram charity and would like to support me in this venture! I would be grateful if you could make a donation to my marathon effort by visiting my Virgin Giving donation page at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/y5cad With your help, I’m confident that we can make a difference to the lives of hundreds of London children, (if it’s just one it will have been worth it to me)!”
